Cutaneous Medicine Education Foundation

The dermatology field advances quickly with new therapies, diagnostic tools, and expanding patient needs. Several non-profit organizations play a critical role in continuing education and training, as well as patient education and advocacy in the dermatology space.

As a board member of a new non-profit, I would like to highlight the Cutaneous Medicine Education Foundation (CMEF). CMEF was first founded in 2023 and recognized as a 501(c)(3) corporation in 2024. The mission of the CMEF is to provide educational resources for dermatology advanced practice providers and their patients through a non-profit platform, with the goal of improving the quality of dermatologic care.

The CMEF recently launched its website with content focused on patient education. We are currently developing educational materials and reputable resources to help patients better understand their disease state. We aim to build a library of dermatologic disease states that patients can use quickly and confidently to learn about their skin conditions (and hopefully avoid misinformation readily available on social media).

After building content for patients, CMEF hopes to provide continuing education for advanced practice providers. As I mentioned earlier, the field of dermatology is constantly advancing. CMEF desires to help providers stay current and confident in their clinical knowledge by providing continuing education resources in its future development.

If you are an advanced practice provider and would like to become part of the CMEF team or help with CMEF’s mission (currently focusing on patient education), check out our website at the link below. We would love to hear from you!
