Written by Admin | April 24, 2026

2nd Annual RAPIDS | Immuno-Dermatology Conference

Omni | Fort Lauderdale, FL

Thursday, April 23 – Immunology Takes Center Stage

The day began early with breakfast, then delved into a robust exploration of immunology in dermatology.

Dr. Diego Ruiz Dasilva opened with a session on the immunologic and pathologic underpinnings of skin disease, laying the groundwork for the day. Dr. Heather Woolery-Lloyd followed with an engaging discussion on emerging therapies in vitiligo and melasma, highlighting innovations in pigmentary disorders.

After a mid-morning break, Dr. Oyetewa Asempa led a session on alopecia, differentiating between scarring and non-scarring forms through an immunologic lens.

Lunch provided a pause before the transition to applied learning. A panel featuring Dr. Oyetewa Asempa and Dr. Heather Woolery-Lloyd walked through complex cases involving pigment and hair disorders. This was followed by a SkinSync Live discussion on the gut-skin axis with Buchi Neita, PA-C, and Veronica Richardson, NP. SkinSync Live is one of the symposium’s signature live formats, designed to spark real-time dialogue and offer insight into systemic influences on dermatologic health.

Later in the afternoon, Dr. Jennifer Hsiao presented on cutaneous manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease, reinforcing the importance of recognizing systemic connections.

The evening offered a change of pace with a welcome dinner and a lively outdoor networking event, giving attendees time to connect in a more relaxed setting. The atmosphere was vibrant and festive, with attendees embracing a coastal chic aesthetic. Laughter and lively conversation filled the air as colleagues old and new mingled under the open sky, making it one of the highlights of the conference. It was the perfect reminder that the connections made outside the lecture hall are just as valuable as the learning that happens within.
