Angioedema and Urticaria by Heidi Jacobe MD
- For most cases of chronic spontaneous urticaria, with the exception of thyroid investigation, extensive laboratory workup is not typically recommended.
- Consider urticarial vasculitis or bullous pemphigoid in urticarial eruptions that do not resolve in a typical time frame or respond to traditional therapies such as antihistamines or prednisone.
- Phototherapy is a great option for patients with chronic urticaria who have recalcitrant symptoms despite aggressive prescription management.
