International Dermatology COVID-19 Registry and COVID-19 Vaccine-Related Dermatoses
Launched in April 2020 as a collaboration between the International League of Dermatological Societies and the American Academy of Dermatology’s COVID-19 Task Force, the registry seeks to identify dermatologic manifestations of COVID-19 and the COVID-19 vaccine.
This project will advance “the understanding not only of the acute manifestations of COVID-19, but also the long-term skin findings which may give insights into the immune response to the virus,” states Ingrid V. Bassett, MD, MPH.
Any health care provider can contribute by filling out a 5-7 minute form regarding several different types of cases:
· Patients with COVID-19 (confirmed or suspected) who develop dermatologic manifestations
· Patients with existing dermatologic conditions who subsequently develop COVID-19
· Patients on existing dermatologic medications who subsequently develop COVID-19
· Patients with skin reactions to the COVID-19 vaccine
No identifiable patient information is collected and the registry is not meant to influence patient care. It is “simply meant to record events that have taken place” states the Principle Investigator, Esther Freeman, MD, PhD. As the COVID-19 pandemic progresses, this registry will track developments, capture and analyze trends, and record observations from health care providers worldwide.
As dermatology providers we have an important role during this healthcare crisis to learn from and contribute to this collaborative effort. Please share this information with colleagues and encourage reporting of any cases of COVID-19 related dermatoses to: International Dermatology COVID-19 Registry
