- The prevention of NMSC and AKs can possibly be reduced by taking an inexpensive, widely available oral OTC medication, nicotinamide 500mg twice daily.
- Black women with a sister with breast cancer (but are breast-cancer free themselves) have a 45% higher risk for breast cancer if they use permanent hair dye or 18% higher risk if they use chemical hair straighteners.
- Watch for a head and neck flare of AD when patients are prescribed dupilumab. This may be a seb-derm like Malassezia furfur reaction and can be treated with ketoconazole 2% cream BID or itraconazole 200mg once daily for 30 days.
- MRI is useful for demonstrating the depth of lesions in deep and generalized morphea. MRI findings showed that lesions extended beyond clinical margins by a mean length of 6cm. Adjust your intralesional kenalog (triamcinolone) (10mg/ml) to extend away from what you see or feel.
