My Passion

“I enjoy building a strong connection with my patients and making them feel like part of my family. Over time, they get to know me as well as I know them, and they trust me to provide them with the knowledge and care they need to improve. I am passionate about sharing my expertise with others, and I often participate in conferences and PA programs to educate fellow healthcare professionals. My goal is to help others establish the same kind of strong connection with their patients that I have with mine”.


As I read the statement above, I reflected on the drive that pushed me to help others. There was a particular event that completely changed my life's course. After serving as a dermatology PA for nearly a decade, I came across an article that misinterpreted the role of PAs. I was furious and wrote to the SDPA Board of Directors, expressing my disappointment. To my surprise, they suggested I write a rebuttal to the article, and if it got approved, they would publish it. I took up the challenge and my article was indeed published. This experience sparked something within me, and I realized I could be part of the solution. I began volunteering and getting involved in various activities. Although it didn't happen overnight, my confidence grew, and I not only wanted to help my patients but also my colleagues and future PAs. Being able to do this brings balance to my life and gives me a sense of fulfillment in my work.



Vicki Roberts PA-C is a dermatology PA at Palmetto Dermatology/Advance Dermatology in West Columbia, SC where she has been practicing since 2000. She graduated from the University of Florida PA Program in 1999. She has had the honor of serving as President of the South Carolina Society of Dermatology PAs

and the SDPA. She has also served as one of the Founding Trustees for the Dermatology PA Foundation and AAPA Liaison to the American Academy of Dermatology. She was awarded the AAPA Distinguished Fellow in 2021.


When not working, she enjoys spending time with her two sons. She takes them on wild adventures around the world or enjoys quiet time at home with her two dogs and one sassy cat.
