Long-Term Botox Use - Lasting Effectiveness and Patient Satisfaction

A new retrospective study offers reassuring data on the long-term cosmetic use of OnabotulinumtoxinA (Botox). Over an average follow-up of 15 years, 50 patients received up to 67 treatment cycles without any signs of reduced efficacy or shortened duration of results. Importantly, 94% of patients felt they looked at least 2 years younger than their actual age, and 76% believed they appeared 5–12 years younger.

These findings suggest that repeated Botox treatments remain safe and effective over time, with no evidence of treatment resistance or loss of benefit, even after decades of use.  Additionally, Botox treatments demonstrated long-term patient satisfaction over the treatment period.
