The third day of the conference opened with another group yoga wellness session for early risers, followed by registration, coffee, and breakfast as the Exhibit Hall opened for the day.
The morning’s educational sessions began with Dr. Daniel Butler, who explored the immunologic and physiologic changes that come with aging, including immunosenescence and inflammaging, and how these shifts contribute to increased susceptibility to chronic inflammatory skin disease, infection, malignancy, and impaired barrier function in older adults. Dr. Walter Liszewski followed with an update on atopic dermatitis, reviewing new data, the impact of the latest AAD treatment guidelines, and emerging therapies on the horizon.
After a coffee break with exhibitors, Courtney Parkinson took the stage on behalf of the National Alopecia Areata Foundation as part of the Elevate Summer Philanthropy Partner program. It was a meaningful reminder of the patient communities at the heart of dermatologic care. Dr. James Song then examined the evolving understanding of psoriasis pathophysiology and today’s treatment paradigm.
Following lunch and a coffee break, Dr. Butler and Dr. Song teamed up to take a critical look at the unintended effects of biologic therapy and how to manage them. Dr. Song then returned solo to cover chronic urticaria, walking through the latest guideline updates and emerging therapeutic options.
After another exhibitor coffee break, Dr. Maria Robinson offered a comprehensive overview of common tissue reaction patterns in inflammatory skin disease. A SkinSync Live panel featuring Eileen Cheever, PA-C, and Dr. Song then explored how advances in immunology are reshaping clinical outcomes in type 2 inflammatory conditions. The day’s CME programming wrapped up with Dr. Jashin Wu, who delivered a comprehensive review of the psoriasis treatment toolbox, from topicals all the way through biologics.
With the day’s learning behind them, attendees headed outside for a networking hour on the lawn, trading the conference rooms for open air and good company. It was the perfect low-key way to unwind, catch up with colleagues, and keep the conversations going as the sun went down over San Diego.
